Occasio Technologies Inc. ("Occasio", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting personal information and respecting the privacy of individuals who use its services.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use Occasio, MyOccasio, our websites, applications, artificial intelligence features, opportunity matching services, academic tools, application tracking tools, subscriptions, communications, and other services that reference this Policy, collectively the "Services".
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Services.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, account credentials, preferred language, account settings, and subscription status.
When you create or update your MyOccasio profile, you may provide information about your educational institution, program and field of study, year of study, academic history, interests, skills, goals, career interests, employment experience, volunteer and extracurricular experience, leadership experience, preferred opportunity types, geographic preferences, and eligibility-related information. Some of this information may be sensitive. We limit collection to what is reasonably necessary to provide the Services.
When you use MyOccasio academic tools, we may process information you provide about your courses, grades, credits, GPA, grading scales, academic goals, target grades, and academic scenarios.
When you use the opportunity and application features, we collect information about the opportunities you search for, view, save, compare, track, or pursue. If you use the Application Tracker, we may also process application status, deadlines, progress notes, and other information you choose to enter.
When you use MyOccasio AI, we process your prompts and questions, AI-generated responses, and relevant information from your profile, opportunities, applications, academic tools, goals, and conversation history where saving is enabled. We use only the information reasonably necessary to fulfill your request.
If student verification is required for student pricing or another benefit, we collect your institutional email address, institution name, and verification status.
If you purchase a paid subscription, we process your subscription type and status, payment amount, transaction identifier, purchase and renewal dates, and billing status. Where payments are processed directly by a third-party payment provider, Occasio does not receive or retain your complete payment card information.
We and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Services, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, session information, pages and features accessed, timestamps, diagnostic data, error logs, and security events.
If you contact us, register for an event, respond to a survey, or request support, we collect the information you provide in those communications.

We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that are reasonable and appropriate in the circumstances. Where required by applicable Canadian law, we obtain consent appropriate to the nature of the personal information and the circumstances before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information. We do not use personal information for unrelated purposes without obtaining additional consent where required by law.
3. Personalized Matching and Recommendations
MyOccasio uses information from your profile and your activity to personalize opportunity recommendations.
This may include automated systems that generate:
· match percentages
· personalized rankings
· recommendations
· explanations of why an opportunity may be relevant
You can influence personalized results by updating information in your profile.
A MyOccasio match or recommendation is intended to support opportunity discovery. It does not guarantee eligibility, selection, funding, employment, admission, or any other outcome.
You should review important eligibility requirements, deadlines, and other information with the official opportunity provider.
4. MyOccasio AI
MyOccasio AI provides personalized informational guidance.
Depending on your request, MyOccasio AI may use relevant information from your profile, opportunities, Application Tracker, academic tools, goals, and saved AI conversations where that functionality is enabled.
Artificial intelligence can make mistakes or produce incomplete or outdated information. Important information should be verified with the appropriate official source.
MyOccasio AI does not make scholarship, employment, admissions, funding, academic, government, or other third-party decisions on your behalf.
We may use third-party technology providers to operate AI functionality. When service providers process personal information on our behalf, we require them to handle that information in accordance with applicable contractual and legal requirements.
5. Organizations and Opportunity Providers
Organizations may use Occasio to publish, promote, manage, or distribute opportunities.
Paying Occasio or publishing an opportunity does not provide an organization with access to a student's private MyOccasio account.
Organizations do not receive access to private:
· student profiles
· academic or GPA information
· Application Tracker information
· MyOccasio AI conversations
We may provide organizations with aggregated or de-identified information where appropriate.
If you choose to provide information directly to an organization, submit an application, request contact, or authorize information to be shared, that organization may process the information according to its own privacy practices.
7. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
Occasio does not sell personal information.
We do not sell private student profiles, academic information, GPA information, application information, or private MyOccasio AI conversations.
Sponsored or promoted opportunities do not provide sponsoring organizations with access to private student information.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to:
· operate the Services
· keep users signed in
· maintain security
· remember settings and preferences
· understand product performance
· measure usage
· improve the Services
9. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, disclosure, modification, or destruction. Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel and service providers with a legitimate need.
10. Where Information May Be Processed
Occasio is a Canadian company. We and our service providers may process personal information in Canada or in other jurisdictions where our technology providers operate. Information transferred or processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
11. Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, prevent fraud, comply with our legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When personal information is no longer required, we take appropriate steps to delete, destroy, or anonymize it.
12. Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable Canadian privacy law, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, withdraw consent where applicable, request deletion where applicable, request information about how your personal information has been used or disclosed, and challenge our privacy practices.
You can update many types of information directly through your MyOccasio account. To make a formal privacy request, contact info@occasiotech.ca. We may verify your identity before completing a request.
13. Communications
We may send you communications required to operate your account, including verification messages, security notices, subscription information, and important service updates. We may also send marketing communications where permitted by applicable law. You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time, and doing so will not affect the delivery of account or service communications you have requested.
14. Third-Party Services
Occasio may link to or integrate with websites, applications, schools, employers, scholarship providers, governments, and other services that are operated independently from Occasio. When you provide information directly to a third party, that third party's own privacy practices apply. Occasio is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of independent third parties.
15. Privacy and Security Incidents
We maintain internal procedures for identifying, assessing, and responding to privacy and security incidents. We maintain a record of all incidents, including those that do not meet the threshold for mandatory notification. Where required by applicable law, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant authorities in a timely manner.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our Services, technology, business practices, or legal obligations evolve. The Last Updated date at the top of this Policy reflects the date of the most recent revision. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes or obtain any additional consent required.
